    Maureen was very helpful in answering questions. She was kind, compassionate, organized and professional and I would recommend her to friends.

    Even though she [Maureen] couldn’t make it to the very fast delivery, we had every confidence that she would have been a great support during labour. We were appreciative that she was there when we arrived [at the hospital] and supported me through a difficult repair. Thank you for your postpartum visits. Prior to birth I was very appreciative of all of the information and classes. I felt very prepared for the birth. I was very calm during the delivery at home because of all the great preparation.

    I had my first born eleven months ago[2009]; a healthy baby boy weighing in at 8lbs, 3oz who is now extremely active and constantly on the go.  It wasn’t until my third trimester that I decided to use a doula.  I heard nothing but good things about them and since I was very nervous about my labour and delivery, I decided that a doula couldn’t hurt.

    Within my first meeting with Maureen, she was full of helpful suggestions for ways to cope with labour pain.  I was very relieved that she was respectful of what I wanted and was not judgmental with my choice of having an epidural.

    I went into labour two weeks earlier than my due date and Maureen met my husband and I on short notice.  She brought along with her several items to help me with pain management (ie: essential oils, birthing ball).   I found her presence to be gentle and positive.  Even the little things such as getting me ice chips or carrying our belongings when we switched rooms, was a great help.

    I ended up having to have an emergency C-Section, but she stayed at the hospital with me afterwards for several hours to help me as the anaesthetic wore off.  She also came by the hospital and my home afterwards to check in on my son and me and help answer any questions or concerns I may have had.

    All-in-all, Maureen did her best to make the entire process the least stressful as possible and I am grateful for that!

    We had the privilege of having Maureen as our doula for the home births of both our son (April 2010) and daughter (December 2011).

    During the interview process, we met other doulas but were immediately comfortable with Maureen. She is very personable, knowledgeable and strives for what is best for not only mom and baby, but dads as well.

    Our son decided to come rather quickly, so when our midwife arrived at our house and realized he was crowning, she needed help to bring in all of her gear. I had full confidence in leaving my wife with Maureen while I helped the midwife. She kept my wife calm and focused during the end stages of labour, and helped me to focus on helping my wife get our baby to arrive safely.

    For our daughter’s birth, Maureen was our son’s doula as we wanted him to be at home to experience her birth. She took time out of her busy life in the months leading up to the birth to meet with us and our son, to help him feel comfortable around her. When it was finally time, my wife and I were able to focus on the safe arrival of our daughter, knowing that our son was in excellent hands, and would be able to experience this amazing gift with us.

    Maureen’s calm demeanor, makes her an excellent doula and we are honored that she got to experience this part of our lives. My wife and I are proud to call Maureen a friend :) Thank-you Maureen.
